Microbiology Matters (MiMa) is a PhD school with strong relevance for working life. Its focus spans One Health and infectious diseases, including viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, host–microbe interactions, zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and bioinformatics. MiMa aims to help prevent infectious diseases caused by the most common microbial agents and to train highly skilled doctoral candidates in microbiology-related fields, grounded in a One Health approach to public and veterinary health.
In 2025, MiMa received eight years of funding from the Research Council of Norway (NRC). The collaboration between NDPIA and MiMa aims to strengthen connections and promote scientific exchange among early-career researchers in Sweden and Norway. Key goals include creating more opportunities for learning, networking, and joint activities across the two countries.
As part of this partnership, NDPIA supports its members in attending MiMa courses, workshops, and other events in Norway. Likewise, MiMa-affiliated students are welcome to participate in activities organized by NDPIA in Sweden.
