This 1 ECTS course provided by Umeå Core Facility Electron Microscopy (UCEM) covers fundamental theory and operational principles as well as specimen preparation techniques for scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM/TEM). The aim is to provide general and basic introduction to PhD students and postdocs, who would like to work with EM methods in their projects. Participants from all research departments and universities are admitted and there is no requirement for specific focus of research topics. The course includes lectures, laboratory demonstrations and electron microscopy operation demonstrations. The course will be given at Umeå University, 30 August – 1 September 2016.
