Registration is open! 9th National Infection Biology/Swedish Microbiology Meeting 16-18 November, Online

Welcome to the 9th National Infection Biology / Swedish Microbiology Meeting

The 9th National Infection Biology/Swedish Microbiology Meeting will be a virtual meeting that aims to provide a broad vision on current state-of-the-art microbiology techniques and research in Sweden.

Keynote speakers are Swedish researchers working within the sub-disciplines of bacteriology, virology, parasitology, host response, clinical infection biology, environmental microbiology, zoonotics, and new methods.

Poster presentations will be organized as digital poster walks that allow participants to present and discuss their work with other participants. NDPIA encourages all members to use this opportunity to present your research.

When: 16-18 November, 2021

The meeting is co-organized by the National Doctoral Programme in Infections and Antibiotics (NDPIA) and the Swedish Society for Microbiology (SFM) with the aims to enhance cross-disciplinary research in Sweden within the fields of infection biology and microbiology as well as to strengthen the Swedish network of scientists within these fields.

Invitation to Vaccinology Course!

All NDPIA members are invited by our Norwegian partner program, National Graduate School in Infection Biology and Antimicrobials (IBA) to participate in their Vaccinology course.

Time: 4-7 October, 2021
Place: Bergen

Registration deadline: August 17th

The course is intended for PhD-students and post-docs working in immunology or vaccine related projects. It will provide an introduction to the history of vaccines, vaccine development, immunological mechanisms of protection, clinical trials, adjuvants and mode of action of different types of vaccines. It will be held as a combination of lectures and student assignments.

Infection and Cancer course 2021!

NDPIA is in collaboration with Umeå Centre for Microbial Research (UCMR) offering a course that combines introductory lectures and student learning activities with an international symposium on infection and cancer.

International experts will present basic concepts on principles by which viruses and bacteria subvert the cellular micro-environment to cause cancer.

Participants will have an opportunity to

  • Design experimental models to address knowledge gaps in infection and cancer
  • Discuss their research with colleagues and international researchers in the field
  • Build their national and international scientific network
  • Discuss with experts working within infection and cancer research
