National Course in Vector Borne and Emerging Viral Zoonoses and Smögen Symposium on Virology 22-25 August 2018

The 15th Smögen Summer Symposium on Virology will be held in Smögen 23-25 August 2018 and prior to the symposium, a National Course in Vector Borne and Emerging Viral Zoonoses will be organized, 22-23 August 2018.
Course registration deadline – 1 June, 2018 / Symposium registration deadline – 17 June, 2018

NDPIA members can apply for co-funding of travel/accommodation for participating in the activities.

SciLifeLab course on “Biophysical methods in drug discovery” in Uppsala 180827-31, application deadline 26 May

The course on "Biophysical methods in drug discovery" provided by SciLifeLab 180827-31 in Uppsala will focus on different biophysical methods used for characterizing protein-ligand interactions in drug discovery projects. It will cover a range of biophysical methods used to characterize interactions between drug target proteins and potential inhibitory compounds, and how to use the information for lead generation. The course consists of lectures with active discussion from the participants, computer exercises, and demonstrations in the form of laboratory experiments.

Networking opportunity at Young Microbiologists Symposium, Belfast 27-28 August

The Young Microbiologists Symposium (YMS) 27-28 August 2018 is intended to bring together graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to discuss their current research. The symposium, held in Belfast, will feature 14 invited speakers, a poster session, selected talk from abstracts and opportunities for social interaction. There will be seminar sessions on:

  • Antibiotics and resistance mechanisms
  • Gene regulation and signalling
  • Infection and immunity
  • Secretion and transport across membranes
